Is Kylie Jenner so over the Kardashians? After ditching the signature “K” initial in the name of her latest sell-out lip kit color, the reality start confessed that she may be looking to distance herself from the Kardashian name all together. Say what?!
The Kardashian sisters may be responsible for first propelling the family into super stardom, but make no mistake about it, Kylie Jenner is her own woman. The 18-year-old reality star made that fact abundantly clear anyways when she made the conscious decision to drop the “K” initial from the name of her latest sell-out Lip Kit. Could it be a sign that she’s ready to drop the Kardashian name all together? See what she had to say below!
Up until this point, Kylie’s massively successful Lip Kits have all had one big thing in common— that is, all of them except her latest creation. While past shades have been given names like Koko K, named after her older sister Khloe Kardashian, Candy K, Posie K, and Dolce K, her latest color — a vibrant burnt orange called simply ’22’ — was noticeably absent of any signature “K” initial. If you thought that was weird, don’t worry, you weren’t the only one. After a fan pointed out the suspicious lack of “K” in her Lip Kit’s name, Kylie clarified her bold decision on Twitter, writing: “Moving on from the K’s slowly but surely.” Talk about a power play!
Now, while it not clear exactly what the Snapchat queen meant by that, it seems safe to say that Kylie is using the massive success of her Lip Kit line to branch out on her own, not unlike the way her sister, Kendall Jenner, recently stepped out of the Kardashian spotlight and launched her own uber successful modeling career.
As you might recall, when Kendall first started modeling, she made sure to put some space between her and famous family, namely by minimizing her involvement with Keeping Up with the Kardashians and asserting herself as a model, not a reality star. In her first season as a serious model, Kendall even went so far as to ban her sisters from attending the shows she was walking in, admitting that their presence would have “taken the attention away” from what she was trying to accomplish on her own.
As for Kylie’s plans to distance herself from the famous family moniker, the reality star recently launched a number of sure-to-be successful new ventures, among them her own cooking show! The new segment, entitled Cooking With Kylie, is just the latest feature to be added to her already wildly successful personal app, which it’s worth noting is the best-selling of the Kardashian/Jenner clan’s recently launched subscription platforms.
Additionally, Kylie also recently teamed up Kendall on the launch of their first mobile game, aptly titled Kendall + Kylie. Much like Kim Kardashian‘s best-selling game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, Kendall and Kylie’s version allow players to interact with the sisters as friends and mentors as they work to realize their creative and career aspirations. With the incorporation of selfies and social media, the girls managed to make their game into basically everything a Kylie/Kendall superfan dreams about, meaning like the girls themselves, it’s bound to be a huge success. Move over Kardashians, it’s officially Jenner time!
