AC/DC Forced To Cancel Tour Dates As Lead Singer Faces Risk Of 'Total Hearing Loss'

         

In an effort to save lead singer, Brian Johnson’s, hearing, AC/DC has been forced to halt their U.S. tour! Although the iconic Australian band is known for being one of the hardest-rocking groups in the world, after this devastating news, they’re being advised to take it easy. Talk about ‘Thunderstruck!’

Doctors have warned Brian Johnson, 68, that he is majorly at risk of going completely deaf! And while that’s not necessarily shocking news for the lead singer — he IS in one of the most legendary rock bands of all time — it’s still incredibly unfortunate news for both the music group and their adoring fans. After all, AC/DC‘s American tour has already been postponed with major stops cancelled!

“AC/DC are forced to reschedule the 10 upcoming dates on the US leg of their Rock or Bust World Tour,” a statement released by the band said. “AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.” Wow! Apparently that’s what hardcore rocking out for over 35 years can do to a person. But still — how sad and devastating!

The statement also revealed that the band’s March 9 show in Atlanta is cancelled and so are all the shows after that — through New York City’s show in early April. Hopefully, the statement added, the shows will be made up later in the year and will most likely feature a guest vocalist. So does this mean the end of Brian’s epic career?

The band had a total of 10 dates on the U.S. leg of their much-anticipated tour, but in light of this recent news, ticket holders can either wait to see when — or if — the shows will be reschedule, or they can go ahead and get a refund. What a loss!

So many fans were eagerly looking forward to seeing the legendary band perform favorites such as “Back in Black” and “Highway to Hell,” but obviously they’re going to have to wait a bit longer. And let’s be honest, the band may never the the same again.

But although the U.S. dates have been stalled, AC/DC has not yet cancelled any of its European dates, which are due to kick off in Lisbon on May 7 before rolling into London and Manchester the following month. Although it’s not clear if this diagnosis is career-ending for Brian, a 2014 study did find that professional musicians are four times more likely to suffer from hearing disorders than the general public. And it’s not hard to see why! After all, AC/DC is definitely known for their ear-shattering performances. Let’s just hope they — and Brian — will be able to bounce back from this!
