Don’t mess with Trai Byers! The ‘Empire’ star slammed rumors he wants to leave the show in a new Instagram message. He said he has nothing but love for the show and can’t wait to see everyone in season three!
Tell ’em, Andre! Trai Byers took to Instagram to blast rumors that he’s ready to quit Empire. The actor, who plays Andre Lyon on the drama series, was hit with claims of diva behavior and that he wants out of the show. He revealed in a bold message that he loves playing Andre and credits the role for launching his career. Haters need to take a seat!
“I don’t normally spend my time dispelling rumors, but there is something I’d like to address,” he wrote on Instagram. “I have nothing but love and respect for “Empire” and all who are involved on the show. I have a fabulous relationship with FOX, and hold myself to the highest standards professionally. How could I think of demanding something larger than Andre, where I get to express a man with Bipolar disorder, who is on a spiritual journey to find his identity? I’m so proud, so happy, and so lucky to be a part of this cast. This show has started my career. See you in Season Three!”
A Page Six report circulated on March 2 that claimed that Trai “wants out” of Empire. “At first, being on ‘Empire’ was major for him. But he feels his character is not as important this season, and he hates not being the star,” the outlet reported. “Trai threw a temper tantrum during filming in the past few weeks, saying, ‘I don’t get to do enough, I might leave.’”
Well, Trai made sure to let fans know he’s not going anywhere. We’re so glad that Trai said something. He’s one of the most beloved characters on the show, and his storyline has been a great one to follow. The Lyon family has to stick together. There’s no Empire without Andre!
Empire returns on March 30. Andre’s in for one hell of a season. His pregnant wife, Rhonda, was attacked in the midseason finale and left for dead. In the trailer, Andre is seen breaking down in the hospital. Poor Andre!
